A Candy Bar

My first idea for favors was to get these cute glass photo coasters. To make sure they were quality products, I ordered one a couple of weeks ago. At first, I was totally sold on them. But a co-worker brought up a good point. Did I try to change out the picture to see if it was easy to do so? So I tried it and it was horrible! My hands got all sticky and I never did get the picture out of the coaster. Bye bye coasters.

However I did see an idea that I like even more. A Candy Bar. No -- not like a Hershey Bar. More like a table with lots of different candy options, complete with plastic bags with our wedding labels on them. We would invite our guests to create their own bag of goodies tailored to their individual taste. Here is an example of what I have in mind...

I don't know if I would only do candy in the wedding colors. I honestly like the idea of different color candies. I'm not a "matchy-matchy", I must dye my shoes to match the dress kinda gal.

Thoughts? Suggestions on type of candy?

I've been to a lot of weddings this year, and honestly, the best wedding favor I ever got was a card that said a donation had been made in my name to a charity. This bride and groom had actually gone around and hand-picked charities for most of the guests (mine was breast cancer) based on things personal to them. I thought it was awesome, personal, and not something I would never use or forget about in a week. It probably helped that it was a small wedding, but it could be done with one charity that means something to the bride and groom for all guests. It didn't say how much (I'm guess not more than a few bucks) but I thought it was so nice that they wanted to celebrate starting their life together by giving back to other people. Just a thought.....
